After the Gold Rush (1970) is a pensive, acoustic affair, but it is played with absolute conviction in the service of one of Young's strongest collection of songs. Young is concerned here with the core of humanity - hope, despair, and how to make love stay. His voice has the high, careless clarity of a child, but his lyrics are those of a weathered, wise traveller.

The Gold Rush (1925) is the quintessential Chaplin/Little Tramp film, with a balance of slapstick comedy and pantomime, social satire and emotional and dramatic moments of tenderness. It was Chaplin's own personal favorite film, showcasing the classic Tramp character (referred to as "The Little Fellow" in the re-release version) with his cane, derby, distinctive walk, tight shabby suit, and mustache as a romantic idealist.
